GDPR - The end of the email?
24 May 2018
It's GDPR Eve!!
And we've been working with clients to try and get them as ready as they can be for tomorrow's new regulation.
Not many organisations are ready (or confident in their positions), but the ICO's been impressively pragmatic and said they're not interested in prosecuting for prosecutions sake - they just want to see better management of personal data, and so that's what we've been helping our clients do.
Rather ironically, considering the snowstorm of emails we've all been receiving recently; "Pleeease let us contact you in future", I've noticed that the thing most organisations fear the most is the content of emails they already hold - the ones that they might have to dig out if they receive a Data Subject Access Request....
When they appreciate what it means to obtain all related emails, and the effort of redacting other people's personal data (where permitted) dawns on my clients I've seen them blanche a little and start scribbling notes about how to start using email better, and less...
So a by-product of the GDPR could be more face-to-face conversations...who'd have thought?!!

GDPR - The General Data Protection Regulation
22 April 2018
Interesting times...
GDPR is nearly upon us, and there's a lot of digitally-enabled organisations who are going to come down with a bump.
This far-reaching regulation protects the rights of europeans to control the way data about them is used, and the obligation is on businesses to treat that data (more) carefully.
It's a step-change from what's gone before.
At HowNice we're looking forward to working with a wide range of organisations to protect them and their users from any careless or accidental data breaches.
Get in touch if you have any questions, or already think you have a prpoblem that you need some help with.
